FLOS BELLHOP WALL UP
Designed by EDWARD BARBER & JAY OSGERBY, 2022
November 18, 2022

“The Bellhop family includes the portable table lamp, the outdoor pieces and the floor lamp launched in 2021. We have decided to further expand the collection to include a wall lamp. Since the launch of Bellhop Table in 2017, Flos has developed a new patented technology that has allowed us to create a unique wall lamp with a high-performance optic that pushes light upwards and outwards in a room. This more static member of the family integrates Bellhop directly into the architecture of a space. The characteristic shape of the shell is cut and inverted. Bellhop Wall Up is available in a selection of colors to celebrate its sculptural form”. Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby
Bellhop Wall Up is the wall lamp designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, a new chapter in a success story that began in 2017 with the portable and rechargeable Bellhop Table, the first model in a family that has since expanded to cover the most diverse needs of the home.
Designed to offer a wider beam of light than Bellhop Wall, the model for exteriors, Bellhop Wall Up features the same iconic form that distinguishes the family. The only (but key) difference is in its positioning: the cap is set upside down. This adaptation was made possible by a new technology patented by Flos that allows to develop the light upwards instead of towards the wall.
A gentle but characterful object
The Bellhop family was envisaged by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby starting from 2017 to follow an original intuition: creating an object capable of providing a gentle illumination, very much like a contemporary candle to be transported comfortably from one room to another. Starting from this idea, the designers have over time developed a whole family of lamps, featuring a floor model, and several outdoor models.
The lamp takes its name from the traditional bell used in hotel receptions. The first portable model is recognizable by the shell with a simple and refined silhouette, which quickly became highly distinctive. The essential line has made it possible to develop over time an increasingly large collection of variants that meet different needs. The portable version, which immediately gained great success, was followed by editions in new colors and a special edition in matt black, then by the floor version and the wall, bollard and pole models for the exteriors.

Colors and technical features
Bellhop Wall is available in a range of colors that echo that Bellhop Table. The shape of Bellhop is well suited to bold colors.
The wall attachment is large enough to be used without adapters with American J-Boxes, preserving their aesthetics. Bellhop Wall Up can be installed both in Upside and Downside position to expand even further its application range.
The special diffuser designed for the lamp allows to obtain a smooth and uniform light emission while controlling direct glare.
Bellhop Wall Up is IP44 and therefore protected from moisture and water ingress, which makes it suitable for bathrooms and humid indoor environments.
