Design London Shoreditch Debuts at London Design Festival
Celebrating the Power of Community-Building
September 16, 2025

Until 18th September across three venues
Making its debut in East London’s creative district, Design London Shoreditch has opened its doors as the main hub of the wider Shoreditch Design Triangle. The new event incorporates over one hundred brands, creatives, installations, talks and events across three dedicated exhibition venues: House of ICON, Design Culture and Design at Work by OnOffice and serves as LDF’s latest hotspot for creativity and inspiration within commercial, hospitality and residential design.
The power of design to bring people and communities together is explored throughout the three venues.

House of ICON :
380 Old St, EC1 (Shoreditch Town Hall)
Set within the Grade II-listed Shoreditch Town Hall, design and lifestyle brands have taken over the expansive interior chambers, atmospheric basement rooms and the grand Victorian auditorium. House of ICON celebrates the breadth of both residential and hospitality projects.
One of the main attractions here is 2LG Studio’s third iteration of the exhibit You Can Sit With Us. Inspired by Oscar Wilde - who famously wore a green carnation as a subtle symbol of queerness – this curated installation reimagines the carnation as a modern emblem of inclusivity through the innovative and diverse work of a dozen queer creatives.

The Design Discussion talks series happening throughout the three days in the House of ICON is an exciting addition to the talks landscape during LDF. Co-curated by journalist and designer expert Roddy Clarke, highlights include discussions with: Jo Barnard and her insights into the world of industrial design, recent UCA graduate Gurpreet Arora on humanizing the refugee experience, the evolution and impact of street art with Sahra Hersi, the stories of furniture and film with Paula Benson and the role mindfulness can play in design along with a guided meditation to close the talks led by furniture designer and meditation teacher Marc Krusin.
Clarke explains, "Today we need connection and community more than ever and this has driven my approach to curating the talks programme for Design London Shoreditch. I want it to be an open and inclusive space where everyone feels their voice can be heard, especially young, emerging talent who might not have the confidence to share their creative views or have access to certain rooms and conversations. In bringing the creative community together, hopefully it can spark meaningful debate and discussion while connecting established studios with fresh talent that could even lead to future collaboration.” Find the full schedule here.

House of ICON will also spotlight a vibrant mix of designers, manufacturers and brands. Highlights include graduate showcases from the Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martins, as well as from presentations from Milan/Dubai-based design platform Isola, a colourful bar design from Brighton-based designer Lois O’Hara and innovative furniture brands including Six Dots Design, Thonet and Dare Studio.

Design Culture :
347 Old St, EC1 (Kachette)
Design Culture explores the impact of culture through design and showcases objects, artworks, material and craft from across the globe. From bold statement pieces to carefully crafted objects, the exhibition demonstrates how thoughtful design has the power to enrich and transform our everyday lives. Goldsmiths and Kingston University will present curated collections from their design students and alumni.
Ancient Futures, a female-led multidisciplinary design research collective, presents its project exploring the themes of ancestry, ecology and sustainable futures on behalf of the British Council. The collective operates within the modes of indigenous crafts, ancestral knowledge, design, and biotechnology to envision regenerative futures rooted in earth, ecology and heritage.
Moleskine is leading a series of creative workshops for the public focusing on moving the creative needle and the expansive power of journaling – times and dates here.
Artist Ben Cullen Williams debuts his new installation Self Portrait, in collaboration with Google Deepmind and Google Arts & Culture Lab. This new piece explores self-portraiture through advanced generative AI modelling, with the AI model creating a ‘self portrait’ of itself through collaboration between artist and machine.

Design at Work by OnOffice
31 New Inn Yard, EC2A (Protein Studios)
